Ah, another knitting season begins...
We've been so busy at WLD, there's hardly been time to post about all our news!

Joan went to Burbank, California recently and taped a segment of the hot new knitting show, Knitty Gritty, titled "Naughty Knits"! Look for it on the DIY network's Winter '05 schedule.

With the release of Deb Stoller's new book, Stitch n' Bitch Nation, look for a pattern for simple 2-needle stockings contributed by Joan. No sock-knitting experience required for these!

The hot fashion trend for this season is "Grandma Glamour" and Joan is right on the cutting edge with her vintage look in knits. Check out our new retro-inspired styles, Sarah's Shawl Collared Cardigan, Arial, Beauty & the Beads, and Milinda.

Joan's husband Mike has come up with some adorable T-shirt and tote designs featuring vintage knitting artwork. A perfect "instant gratification" gift for yourself or your favorite knitter!

Knitting continues to prove itself newsworthy!

With the popularity of our favorite pastime on the rise, all manner of media trumpet knit-related stories.

KMAX Channel 31 in Sacramento, recently featured Joan and her unique lingerie designs in a story about spicing up your love life with with knitting! It was great exposure in more ways than one!

The Sacramento Bee also did an interview with Joan, and that appeared in their Scene section.

Speaking of S-E-X, Knitty.com's theme for summer is right up White Lies Designs' alley. 'Sex in the Knitty' will feature two new lingerie designs by Joan, specially created for the online publication.

Fall is here and things are finally cooling down after a brutal summer in much of the US and Europe. Here in Sacramento California, we had 17 consecutive days in July that reached over 100 degrees. A well-deserved knitting season is upon us...

We have some beautiful new designs for your knitting enjoyment:

Bella is a sexy lace pullover whose pattern also includes a cardigan view.

Heather (originally designed by Joan for K1C2) is a vintage inspired beauty with something a little extra.

Mike's Easy Pullover is an easy fitting style with all the details that make it a favorite with hard-to-please guys.

White Lies Designs is pleased to offer it's very own coffee/tea mug! Curl up with your favorite hot drink and some good knitting.

We also love our new luxurious sterling silver and semi-precious stone shawl pins! Designed exclusively for us by Marie-Laure Delage-Carlson, these gorgeous pins are perfect closures for those unruly shawls or as decoration on a hat or jacket.

Also, we now have made available reprints of articles written by Joan that have appeared in Cast On Magazine!
If you missed her series "Size Matters: Knitting for the Amply Blessed Woman" or her article "Vintage Knitting", you can catch up here.

We have more new styles in the works for the winter '03-04 season, including some beautiful new lingerie, so check back with us often for fresh offerings!

Spring has sprung here in Sacramento, and we've created some lovely new designs for the warmer weather to come.

First, we have a new lingerie category that include two beautiful styles.
They were a huge hit at Stitches West and were bought up by young and more "mature" knitters alike!
Nicole is a sexy silk/wool camisole and thong set with adjustable straps and hidden elastic for bust support. An optional full bikini back is included in the pattern for more modest appeal.
Rita Mae is a shapely corselette top and tap pant with leaf stitch detailing and a laced-up front.

We overheard a resourceful young knitter begging her mother for one of these styles, and when mom replied they were too revealing, the young one said "But I can wear it layered over a T shirt!". Mom actually relented and we thought it was a great idea for any age group who likes the lingerie look but would rather keep that much flesh under wraps.

Our second new category is ladies vests, and the Secret Garden Vest is our new featured style. It is a fun, easy knit made up in our Treasure Island Cotton handpaint. Joan knitted up the sample over a three day weekend. It's also a great deal at under $35.00 including the pattern for the smallest yarnpack (makes up to size 40").

The current issue of (Spring '03) Interweave Knits features White Lies Designs in it's "News and Views" section as a go-to resource for vintage styled knits.
It also includes a vintage reproduction sweater by Joan, the sexy "Pinup Pullover", a modern interpretation of a curvy classic.

Look to the Summer '03 issue of Interweave Knits to feature another style from Joan, this time a lingerie-inspired design.

The summer issue of Cast On Magazine will also include some of her fun and flirty styles for beachcombing and poolside.
